The next 24 hours
Don’t light your stove for the first 24 hours
The stove will be very smoky on the first fire (it may set your smoke alarms off), that’s to be expected and nothing to worry about
If there is heavy rain soon after your install, you may get some water come down as it’s a metal tube with no soot inside to absorb it, the more you use your fire the less this will happen
Cleaning tips
Make sure you’re burning dry fuel (if your glass is black and hard to clean that’s a sign the wood/coal is wet)
WD40 will clean your hearth and stove up really nicely (it will smell when you next light it)
Spray the glass with glass cleaner, dip your cloth in the ash and wipe the glass in a circular motion
Lighting the perfect fire
Open your air vents
Put a few firelighters in, we like the natural ones
Next you want lots of kindling and allow lots of space around it for air flow
Use untreated, dry logs on the top
Leave your door slightly ajar while you get the fire going, the more oxygen the better
Once your fire is roaring you can shut the door and lower the air vents to make your logs last
